Dustin Poirier questions why Michael Chandler is still fighting
There was a time when Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler were bitter enemies.
‘The Diamond’ insisted their rivalry is well and truly over when questioning why his former opponent hasn’t retired yet.
“With all due respect,” Poirier said on the Deep Waters podcast.
“We’ve buried the hatchet and shook hands, but Michael Chandler, what are you doing?
“I saw he said he might move up to welterweight.
“If 155’ers are stopping you and you’re taking all of this damage, what are 170’ers going to do?”
Is Michael Chandler moving up to welterweight?
Michael Chandler has ballooned up in weight and is now over 200lbs after making the lightweight limit (156lbs) a month ago.
The 40-year-old appears to have no interest in retiring despite his age and poor run of form.
Chandler recently hinted at a big career change that could see him move up in weight.
“No more starving. BULKING SEASON. Walk on. See you at the top,” he captioned an Instagram post.
At 5ft 8in, Chandler would be among the smallest fighters in the welterweight division if he moved up.
