Colby Covington calls for trilogy with Kamaru Usman after cancelling matchup with Belal Muhammad

Colby Covington wants to welcome Kamaru Usman over to the RAF Wrestling mats.

This past Saturday, Kamaru Usman returned to action for the first time in over a year when he took on Dricus Du Plessis in the UFC Oklahoma City main event.

Unfortunately for ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’, he suffered his fourth loss in five fights as Du Plessis picked up the unanimous decision win.

And while there are calls for the 39-year-old to retire from MMA, the former welterweight champion has been offered a lifeline in a different sport.

Also competing on Saturday was Usman’s former foe, Colby Covington, who became the inaugural crossover champion in Real American Freestyle Wrestling after beating Arman Tsarukyan.

Following the fight, Covington ended up clashing with Belal Muhammad at the post-event press conference, causing a big brawl on stage.

Not long after, the promotion announced that the pair would clash on the RAF mats at RAF 12.

Despite that, this Monday morning, Covington revealed that he has called off his match with Muhammad, calling him a ‘filthy animal’ and criticizing him for his part in their post-event brawl.

With that, ‘Chaos’ has called for a trilogy match with the aforementioned Usman, calling him a ‘fake person’.

“He’s a fake person and he got his a– beat,” Covington told The Ariel Helwani Show.

“We have unfinished business. If he wants to take a shot at this Cruiserweight Crossover World Championship at RAF, come get it. You’re not going to be faking calls during those six minutes on the RAF mat. I’m going to break you on that mat because you’re a D2 scrub, and I’m a D1 All-American.”

Despite Covington’s calls for a wrestling match with Usman, ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ has no plans to call an end to his MMA career.

In fact, the 39-year-old has stated that he will continue fighting at either 170lbs or 185lbs, depending on which weight class he gets offered the better fights.

And he seemingly has backing from his UFC boss, Dana White, who shut down calls for him to retire saying ‘he’s still got it’.
