Apple’s AirTag 2nd generation 4-pack has only been on the market for a short while, and it seems that Prime Day is the perfect opportunity for its first discount. Instead of $99, the four-pack is now available for $89, while a single Airtag is down to $24 ($5 off). That may only be a modest discount, but it’s the first time we’ve seen any savings on the newer models.
When we reviewed the 2nd-gen AirTags, we found they’re a small but solid upgrade over the previous model. The speaker on this new model is 50 percent louder, making it easier than ever to find your lost keys under the couch cushions, for instance. The upgraded Ultra Wideband and Bluetooth chips expand the range of your tags, making it possible to locate the items from farther away. These are just some of the things we loved most about the AirTags when we reviewed them, giving them a 4-star rating and our Editors’ Choice award.
There are a few things we’d have loved to see with this new generation, but haven’t. The AirTags look exactly the same as the previous generation, which means they have no keyring hole, so you’ll need to spend extra on an accessory. While they do feature an exchangeable battery, we wish Apple offered a rechargeable tag as well.
Still, now’s a great time to get yourself the new generation of AirTags while they’re on sale for $89. Since this seems to be an early Prime Day deal, we expect this discount to be around for a few more days at Amazon.
