Spirit Summoners makes its global debut on Android
  • Spirit Summoners is available now on Android after launching earlier in the year for iOS
  • Jump into a chibi-themed take on Chinese mythology with fast-paced auto-battler action
  • Build your lineup and upgrade them with famous figures from myth and legend, such as Sun Wukong

It’s been a little while since the launch of Spirit Summoners for iOS, but it appears that the cute, chibi-themed auto battler has now finally made its way to Android. Having just launched in the EU for Google Play (with localisation for German, French, Spanish and English), it offers colourful, action-packed auto-battler gameplay on mobile.

Spirit Summoners is a bit of an odd duck of a game. On the surface, this is your standard turn-based auto battler. However, Spirit Summoners professes to be inspired by ‘Chinoiserie’, or in short, the Western interpretation of traditional Chinese art and culture. It’s certainly an oddity for a Hong Kong-based studio like F5 Games, but it does make Spirit Summoners stand out.

Go East, young man

At its core, the mechanics and gameplay of Spirit Summoners are as you’d expect from the genre, of course. You summon spirits (obviously) and upgrade them, building a capable team lineup before pitting them against your enemies.

But it’s very interesting to see a game that wholeheartedly embraces another culture as its central theme. Of course, we’ve seen many Chinese developers highlight their own culture in things such as Honor of Kings, but it’s still rare to see them also take inspiration from Western interpretations.

With Spirit Summoners now available on Android in the EU for the first time, you’ll definitely want to check in and give it a go. Especially as this launch will mark the introduction of plenty of in-game events and bonuses for new players. So dive in and see whether you’re up to building a mythological team to win the day!

In the meantime, you may also be looking for other great new releases that are worth playing on mobile. In which case, you know where to look. Just have a gander at our list of theĀ best RPGs on Android for a small sampling of some top launches!
