  1. Maybe it’s recency bias, but Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is disappointing enough I set it aside. They cut dozens of monsters out of the game, cut 90% of party talk, cut monster classes completely, and cut some islands. However, in all this “reimagining” they still left some of the most annoying back and forth, time wasting sections there. It’s pretty, but I couldn’t continue with DQ Valley Girl, too vapid for me.

  2. It’s actually a remaster, but I was disappointed with Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles remaster. I was so excited to play a touched-up version of this game online with people. Then the means to play online was made needlessly complicated and you can’t even play through the story multiplayer, just individual dungeons. I played through the first two dungeons and never played it again.

  3. Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are my picks. A shot-for-shot remake of the weakest main games in the series with virtually nothing brought over from the much better Platinum, awkward adaptation of the grid based movement to analog controls, and giving the Elite 4 and especially Cynthia competitive-class strategies and stats the player is expected to beat with an ingame team.
