A GoFundMe page to aid Danny Silva’s recovery is close to hitting its goal.

Earlier this year, Silva was talking about not receiving a UFC bonus following a very impressive win in London.

His third victory inside the Octagon looked set to propel the 29-year-old forward before all of a sudden, bigger priorities than fighting emerged.

Silva was hospitalized earlier this month, and while he’s on the road to recovery, people have been chipping in to bear some of the financial weight.

Danny Silva’s fundraiser comes close to its goal following 206 donations

Danny Silva was recently diagnosed with life-threatening blood clots that left him in hospital for three days.

The exciting UFC featherweight still doesn’t know whether he’ll be able to fight again, but has insisted that he’s not going to give up on his dreams.

On August 4, a GoFundMe page was set up by his friend to try and raise money that will go towards Silva’s recovery.

“I’m asking for your help to support Danny during this challenging time,” writes Blake Carillo. “Your donation will go directly toward his medical expenses and help him focus on healing, so he can return to the ring and continue inspiring others. Any contribution, big or small, means the world to us. Thank you for standing with Danny and showing him he’s not alone in this fight.”

At the time of writing, 206 donations have been made, raising a total of $8,301, bringing the fundraiser very close to its $9,000 goal.

While some donators choose to remain anonymous, others have left their names on the GoFundMe.

UFC fighters like Uros Medic and Alice Ardelean are among the top contributors, with the Serbian welterweight contender donating $500.

The page cites Silva’s treatment, doctor visits, and everyday support as what this fund will go towards due to him being unable to make money by competing.

“As someone who’s always pushed through adversity, Danny is determined to come back stronger, but he can’t do it alone.”
