The harbour authority has appointed 15 firms across two multi-year frameworks covering schemes ranging from utilities and berth upgrades to highways, structures and building works.

The biggest winners were FM Conway, Jackson Civil Engineering, Mitie and UK Power Networks Services after securing places on both the major projects and minor works frameworks.

The six-year major projects deal covers schemes valued above £3m and runs until 2032, a separate four-year framework for projects under £3m runs until 2030.

The frameworks will support a sweeping modernisation drive at Dover as the port prepares for rising freight volumes, ferry electrification and expanded cargo operations.

The Port of Dover is currently pushing forward with its long-term “Port of Dover 2050” masterplan, aimed at transforming the harbour into what it describes as the UK’s “most seamless, sustainable and tech-enabled port”.

Planned investment includes upgraded ferry berths, expanded cargo handling facilities, improved roads and utilities infrastructure, cruise terminal enhancements and new logistics development land.
