Even Microsoft Now Appears To Be Getting Involved In The GTA 6 Leaks

Update [Fri 21st Aug 2026, 10:33pm]:

Xbox’s CTO (Chief Technology Officer) Scott Van Vliet has now issued a statement about the GTA 6 leaks, confirming that Microsoft is working with Rockstar and Take-Two to track down the source.

Original Story: The GTA 6 leak saga continues! As someone known as “Cyberleek” continues to share footage from an old build of GTA 6 online, it seems Take-Two is desperately working to track the person down and put a stop to the spoilers.

Both Kotaku and Windows Central are reporting today that Take-Two has issued multiple subpoenas requesting information from the likes of Microsoft, Discord and Google that can assist in their investigation.

Here’s an excerpt from one of the Microsoft-related documents, courtesy of Windows Central:

“The copyrighted material includes but is not limited to audio visual content, artwork, images, dialogue, or other creative elements. Take-Two, through its counsel of record, has submitted a sworn declaration confirming that the purpose for which the DMCA subpoena is sought is to obtain the identity of an alleged infringer or infringers, and that such information will only be used for the purpose of protecting Take-Two’s rights.”

“All internal Microsoft business records and investigative records associated with Microsoft’s internal investigation of the ‘cyberleek’ persona sufficient to identify the user(s), person(s) and/or entity/ies associated with that persona.”

As you can see, there’s a mention that Microsoft might be conducting its own “internal investigation” of the leaker that calls themselves “Cyberleek”, and it would appear Take-Two needs that information to help track the leaker(s) down.

Whether they’ll prove successful remains to be seen, but there’s understandably a big effort going on here to figure out who’s behind it all. Hopefully we don’t get any story spoilers in the process, and that next week’s Netflix Extended Look at GTA 6 will essentially turn all of these leaked clips into old news anyway.
