Usha Vance Was Asked If She Feels “Truly Comfortable” In Her Political World, And Her Answer Says It All
“Everyone knows that I really care greatly about JD’s success.”
Well, Usha Vance apparently isn’t “pretending” about her political beliefs.
Notably, Vice President JD Vance changed his tune from a “never Trump” Republican when he ran for the Senate in 2021. In a similar vein, it’s been reported that Usha, his wife of 11 years, was actually a registered Democrat until 2014.
In a new interview with NBC News, Usha was asked about previously being a registered Democrat — and whether she feels “truly comfortable” in the “political universe” she’s now in.
“I do feel very comfortable in that no one has ever asked me to engage in any kind of litmus test on anything, and I feel very comfortable in that world,” she replied, after asking for clarification on the question.
“I don’t feel like I have to walk around pretending anything of any sort,” she continued. “Sometimes I have thoughts that fit very comfortably into one side or another, sometimes I have views that are idiosyncratic.”
“It’s a world that I think is actually rather accepting of that,” she said, presumably referring to the MAGA world. “Everyone knows that I really care greatly about JD’s success.”
Usha further told NBC News, ahead of the launch of her podcast Storytime With the Second Lady, that she and JD don’t necessarily agree on everything: “I’m not his staffer. I’m not involved in this in any professional sense… There’s no expectation that we are going to see eye to eye on everything.”
