In terms of blonde fashion icons of the 1990s, we need a teeny-tiny break from Carolyn Bessette, no offense. Cher Horowitz, please stand up. The iconic Alaïa dress from Clueless, which Cher (Alicia Silverstone) wears to the party in the Valley before getting mugged at gunpoint and calling her ex-stepbrother (it’s an eventful night), just made its way down the runway again.

It is not the exact Little Red Dress she wears for her failed date with Christian, but it’s similar enough!

The Alaïa Dress made its grand return (albeit in different colors and with a different hem length) on March 6, 2026, at Paris Fashion Week as part of the brand’s fall 2026 collection. The dresses were released under departing creative director Pieter Mulier, who will soon take the top job at Versace.

And yes, Silverstone herself was in attendance at the show!

Clueless continues to be a beloved reference point for fashion lovers thanks to costume designer Mony May’s cheerful mix of colorful, teen-friendly designer fashions. Fun fact: May makes a cameo in the film as Cher’s masseuse. In fact, this isn’t the first time that a designer has revived one of Cher’s dresses. During another memorable scene, the teen queen comes down the stairs in a white slip dress and is asked by her father what she’s wearing. She replies, “a dress,” and he asks, “according to who?” The answer: “Calvin Klein!” In 2010 then creative director Francisco Costa created a $915 version for the now closed Los Angeles boutique, Confederacy.
Now can brands get to work on re-issuing every single item worn in the original Devil Wears Prada? Ideally in time for the sequel? The black sweater with the white collar and the damn Chanel boots? Hello? I’m sure people would even buy that cerulean sweater at this point!
