Tetris and Space Invaders join forces for an exciting limited-time April Fools event

• Fans of Tetris and Space Invaders are set for a once-in-a-lifetime collab
• Playstudios’ Tetris will feature new events starring the Space Invaders
• Tune in for three major events, including a limited-time game mode, in late April

Back in the 80s, the two biggest cabinets in any arcade were Tetris and Space Invaders. And while they may have receded into the background, these two franchises have always remained prime competitors. Until now, that is, with the debut of Tetris x Space Invaders first-time collaboration!

You don’t need me to tell you why Tetris and Space Invaders are so important to the history of gaming. And if you do, well, get off TikTok and learn yourself some history. Anyway, moving swiftly on, this new collaboration sees the two franchises team up for the first time in Playstudios’ Tetris mobile app.

And it seems to be no joke. Or if it is, there’ll be some miffed players who wonder why there’s a whole schedule on show. But three events are slated for April 1st-15th, consisting of an exclusive login event series, while the 13th-23rd consists of a new partnership with Dots.eco for an exclusive conservation-themed set of levels.

Invasive Species

Finally, April 24th-30th will see the debut of the new Invaders Showdown Tournament, featuring a brand-new limited-time gamemode that’s sure to encapsulate this new collaboration. Or at least you’d hope so, what with the big promises of this new event!

Personally, I’m fairly certain this is all genuine, even if April 1st is a weird time to announce it. But it is a bit irritating that we don’t get a better idea of what exactly, if anything, this new collaboration will look like on screen. Here’s hoping that, come late April, we’ll have a better idea!
