Not all tribute bands are created equal. Some have Snoopy as a member. Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, California, has had a Peanuts show in one configuration or another since the 1980s. The current version, “Snoopy’s Legendary Rooftop Concert,” has included one tribute to the dearly departed Ozzy Osbourne. And the Osbourne family approves: Snoopy’s backup band, Jelly of the Month Club, shared a podcast snippet of Jack and Sharon Osbourne discussing Doggy Pawsbourne, the Prince of Barkness, and his reworking of “Crazy Train.” The lyrics aren’t what we all remember from The Osbournes’s opening credits: “Crazy, but that’s how it goes / Charlie Brown’s beagle is the coolest of Joes.” Meanwhile, Spike is dressed like a Blues Brother playing a bone like a harmonica. Much to consider.
“It’s fabulous,” Sharon Osbourne says of Doggy Pawsbourne. “He’s wearing a cross, he’s got the glasses on. It’s just the best. And I just want to thank them.” Jack Osbourne joked that they have booked “Snoopy’s Legendary Rooftop Concert” for Ozzfest, “So Snoopy will be at Ozzfest, headlining.” There are worse ideas. Are they still looking for someone to play Ozzy in a biopic?
