This Time, Diddy Is the Plaintiff in a Lawsuit

Sean “Diddy” Combs is countersuing Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones for “stealing” footage of the rapper and giving it to Netflix for Sean Combs: The Reckoning. Diddy is also suing Lil Rod for defamation for what he said in 50 Cent’s docuseries.
The filing, obtained by Rolling Stone, claims Jones took footage Combs was shooting for his own documentary. It claims Jones went to accused the documentary videographer’s work station and “without authorization … secretly stole certain Computer Drives containing footage the videographer had filmed.” Some of that footage went in 50 Cent’s documentary. At the time of the docuseries’ release, a spokesperson said Diddy’s legal team was “deeply concerned” it contained unauthorized footage.
Diddy’s suit is countering Lil Rod’s 2024 filing, in which Jones claimed he was drugged and sexually assaulted by Combs, as well as allegations of a shooting, drug use, and firearms stored in Diddy’s home. Combs is currently serving a reduced sentence for prostitution-related charges in Fort Dix, New Jersey. His release date has been moved up to February 23, 2028 from June 4, 2028.
