This particular Alienware 16X Aurora gaming laptop is a second generation model that was released earlier this year. The 2026 model has been upgraded with a 16″ 2560×1600 240Hz OLED display (the previous generation was IPS) and the new Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus CPU. The rest of the specs include a GeForce RTX 5060 GPU, 16GB of RAM, and 1TB SSD.
The 16X Aurora is the best Alienware laptop for most gamers
The 16X Aurora boasts a sleek, understated design that doesn’t scream “gamer”. This is a solidly built machine with a metal (magnesium alloy) chassis and anodized aluminum lid and bottom shell. The keyboard deck is made out of a sturdy composite plastic so that your hands don’t get too hot or sweaty. Under the hood, the 16X Aurora packs a punch. In fact, the Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus CPU is currently Intel’s most powerful mobile processor. It was released in March of this year and features 24 cores with a boost clock speed of 5.5GHz.
The GeForce RTX 5060 (mobile) GPU is a good mid-range option for gaming
The RTX 5060 (mobile) offers solid gaming performance. It should run most games at 60fps even with the Alienware’s upgraded 1600p resolution, especially if the game supports DLSS 4.5. Compared to the previous generation CPUs, think of it as a more power efficient version of the RTX 4070. Thanks to the advanced “Cryo Chamber” cooling, Alienware 16X Aurora does not throttle its GPU, meaning you’ll get the maximum power delivered to it (in this case, 115W TDP). Compared to other laptops with similar specs, this laptop should perform at the top of the pack.
