Warner Bros’ genre vampire thriller Sinners won the marquee Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture prize Sunday at SAG-AFTRA‘s Actor Awards, giving the Ryan Coogler pic a major boost in an awards season that had seen Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another win one award after another.
This year, all five Actor Awards nominees in the category — Frankenstein (Netflix), Hamnet (Focus Features) Marty Supreme (A24), One Battle After Another (Warner Bros) and Sinners (Warner Bros) — are all also up for the Best Picture Oscar.
That was the case in 2025 too, when Conclave took SAG-AFTRA’s Ensemble prize but lost at the Oscars to Anora. That snapped a streak of three consecutive SAG winners (Oppenheimer, Everything Everywhere All at Once and CODA) who had gone on to claim Oscar’s Best Picture.

“This project is anointed,” Sinners co-star Delroy Lindo said onstage after the win with his fellow cast members behind him. “From that standpoint, we’re all anointed to be a part of this incredible journey, created by the genius of [writer-director] Ryan Coogler.” With the win, Coogler, in the crowd, becomes the first director to helm two Ensemble Cast-winning films (after 2019’s win for Black Panther).

It was a big night for Sinners, whose double-header star Michael B. Jordan won the Leading Actor trophy that included fellow big hitters like Leonardo DiCaprio and Timothée Chalamet, giving him his biggest win so far in this awards season.

Jessie Buckley, meanwhile, continued her win streak this season with a Leading Actress win for Focus Features’ Hamnet. Sean Penn won the Supporting Actor prize for playing Col. Stephen J. Lockjaw in One Battle, and Amy Madigan won Supporting Actress for playing Aunt Gladys in Weapons, helping solidify their frontrunner status in those categories as the season winds toward Oscar night.

The 2026 Actor Awards, the ceremony formerly known as the SAG Awards, took place tonight at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, where Kristen Bell returned to host and Netflix streaming live.
The speedy ceremony featured a couple emotional moments, first when Catherine O’Hara won Outstanding Female Actor in a Comedy Series for Apple TV’s The Studio. O’Hara died January 30 after a brief illness at age 71. Her co-star Seth Rogen, who won Best Actor in a Comedy Series earlier in the night, did the honors with a heartfelt acceptance speech after her name was read, and the crowd rose to its feet.
That same crowd was also treated to a stirring speech by Harrison Ford, who received the guild’s highest honor, the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award after being introduced by friend Woody Harrelson. “This is promising,” Ford said at the end of a thoughtful and humble speech that had the crowd rapt.

On the TV side tonight, it felt a little like the Emmys, with The Studio and The Pitt repeating their series Emmy wins by taking the Comedy Series Ensemble and Drama Series Ensemble trophies, respectively. As for Rogen, he repeated his Emmy win with his victory tonight, as did Noah Wyle, who won the Actor in a Drama series prize for HBO Max’s The Pitt.
Other TV winners tonight included Keri Russell winning Best Actress in a Drama series for Netflix’s The Diplomat. Michelle Williams won the Television Movie or Limited Series best actress race for FX/Hulu’s Dying For Sex and Adolescence‘s Owen Cooper, also an Emmy winner, won in the Television Movie or Limited Series best actor for the Netflix series.
