RPGamer has been covering RPGs since 1998, with the current version of the site launched in 2018. Due to the wholesale change in our back-end and systems only certain content created from 2018 onwards has been carried over to our new site. However, all of our older content can still be found at archive.rpgamer.com.

My 2019 goals are to beat a Tales game and sucker someone into giving me a Meltan and Melmetal so I can have a full living Pokedex ahead of the Switch Pokémon later this year.
It would be nice if I could actually make a dent in my gaming backlog in 2019. I wouldn’t need to buy another game until 2030 if I played through all the games I have waiting.
Topping the list of “I want to get around to this in 2019” are various Persona games, including all the dancing games, Persona Q, the original Persona for PSP (Snow Queen Quest), Persona 2 Innocent Sin for PSP, and Persona 2 Eternal Punishment for PSP.
I did finally get around to the Persona fighting games in 2018 – P4 Arena, P4 Arena Ultimax, and Blaze Blue Cross Tag. They’re all visual novels with the occasional battle.
The Arena games had decent storytelling. BBTag probably wasn’t worth it just for the Persona characters since its story was non-cannon fluff and nonsense, but it was funny at times.
Much like this year’s gaming goals, I want to play and beat more games. I *might* be able to beat one or two more before January, but right now I’ve beaten the same amount of games in 2018 as I did in 2017.
Kind of hoping Persona 5 Portable hits the Switch in 2019 but, assuming it doesn’t, I’m going to dust off my PSP and play through P3P and Trails in the Sky. Also want to polish off DQ4, and maybe DQ5 too. Plus some new games…
My goal for 2019 is the same as my goal for 2018: Buy no game (except maybe Monster Hunter World Iceborne), and just play what’s in the backlog.
As with 2018, I will probably do well for the first half of the year, and then fail spectacularly.
There are a few games that I have tagged as ‘high priority’ in the backlog (which I know is a dumb thing to do, but hey, I was at work and bored out of my mind), and I’m hoping I can get through some of those. High priority targets are Persona 5, Nier: Automata, the first Mass Effect, and a bunch of shorter games like Child of Light and Bastion.
My gaming goal for 2019 is to play the greatest CRPG of all time: Final Fantasy VI.
*ducks to avoid Chris’ fury*
