Robert Pattinson Hopes Chris Hansen Can See Primetime as a Compliment

The best form of flattery is imitation, and Robert Pattinson does an incredible impression of Chris Hansen for A24’s new movie Primetime. Despite Hansen’s disapproval of the film, Pattinson told the press at the Venice Film Festival that he hopes Hansen will eventually see the production’s fascination with him and To Catch a Predator as a compliment. “I mean, obviously I hope he likes the movie,” Pattinson said, via People. “I never really set out to make a movie about Chris Hansen. I would hope in some ways, like, the amount of inspiration that his character has kind of given certain people who are involved in this [film] for like years now, I hope is some kind of compliment.” Hansen has been vocal about his distaste for the film, seeing it as a “largely” fictionalized movie rather than inspired by real events, but he does admit his family likes Pattinson’s impression of him. “I think the more you watch a show, there’s something like magnetic about his presence,” Pattinson continued. “I watched a show when I was younger, and I didn’t even think about it. I mean, when you kind of obsessively watch it, you realize there’s a strange alchemy with what’s going on with the status of the show and how it was directed and how things got together and the time period.”

Hansen has previously teased that he might take legal action against A24, as a lawyer he consulted told him he might have a “decent case” against the studio, but has yet to formally take legal action.
