Valorant and League of Legends developer Riot Games has downsized its internal publishing division.
A company spokesperson confirmed the news to Game Developer and said around 12 roles across a few offices have been eliminated, impacting three publishing teams in total.
They explained the layoffs coincided with a handful of other “small team-by-team changes” that affected a few individuals.
Riot was fully acquired by Chinese conglomerate Tencent in 2015. It develops and publishes a litany of popular titles including Teamfight Tactics, Legends of Runeterra, and League of Legends: Wild Rift.
The news comes around two weeks after Riot confirmed it was laying off members of the 2XKO development team after the fighter (which takes place in the League of Legends universe) failed to attract a wide audience.
A spokesperson for the company told Game Developer that around 80 people were laid off in total—representing around half of the 2XKO global development team.

Riot pledged to continue supporting the title with a more “focused team.”
