Racecourse Media Group (RMG), an organization uniting 37 British racecourse shareholders, announced that its chairman, Conor Grant, will be stepping down from the role. The outgoing chair cited increasing work commitments and travel to the US as the reason for his decision.

Grant to Depart Upon the Conclusion of His Term

On April 17, RMG confirmed that Grant, who has served the organization for three years, will be departing its team later this year. According to the announcement, Grant will officially step down as chair at the end of 2026 when his first term in the role expires.

RMG, which is an umbrella organization for 37 UK racecourse shareholders and the parent company of Racing TV, elaborated that Grant joined its fold in April 2023, initially serving as a non-executive director. By the end of that year, he rose to the position of chair thanks to his exceptional qualities.

As chair of the group, Grant ensured that RMG continues to excel in spite of the macroeconomic headwinds and the continued challenges faced by the UK media, gambling, and racing sectors.

According to the announcement, Grant decided that the end of his first term was the perfect time to wrap up his time as chair of the RMG. He cited increasing work commitments and travel to the US as the chief reasons for his decision.

Grant Was Pleased to Spend Time at RMG

In a statement, Grant said that it has been a genuine privilege to serve as chair of RMG over the last three years. He was pleased with where the organization currently is, lauding the amazing efforts of CEO Nick Mills and the management team. Grant added that RMG has truly honed its strategy, secured robust leadership, and continued to build on these strong foundations.

The outgoing chair also noted that the organization’s shareholders and board of directors have been especially supportive of him and thanked them for their trust.

RMG is in a strong position with real momentum, and I am confident the business will continue to go from strength to strength in its next phase.

Nick Mills, RMG’s chief executive officer, thanked Grant for his incredible service, saying that he has played a “pivotal role” in strengthening the racing organization and ensuring its long-term success.

Mills concluded that Grant leaves with the team’s “sincere thanks and best wishes for the future.”
