Update []: Quick update on controller compatibility for the upcoming Stage Tour. Judging by the FAQ on the official site, we believe most modern controllers from the Xbox One onwards should work just fine. Anything older, may be a bit spotty.
“We want the barrier to entry for Stage Tour to be as low as possible, so we plan to support as many instrument controllers are possible. With that said, Instrument compatibility will vary greatly based on the platform of the instrument, and the platform you’re playing Stage Tour on. Modern instrument controllers, like the CRKD guitars, the Riffmaster, and Rock Band 4 instruments will work natively with Stage Tour on the platforms those instruments support. Legacy hardware designed for the Xbox 360, Wii, PS3, and PS2 may also work, but will require the use of an adapter, especially on console platforms. PC will have the widest array of native legacy instrument support.”
Original Story: We’ve been waiting donkeys for a brand-new Guitar Hero game on Xbox, but it looks like Activision won’t be the one delivering the goods. Instead, RedOctane Games is bringing its own rhythm game, ‘Stage Tour’ to Xbox on December 10, 2026 – and the best bit? It comes with a full set of controllers!
During Gamescom Opening Night Live, we got a brand-new trailer for Stage Tour, built by veteran rhythm game developers aiming to honour “everything fans loved about the golden age of music games”.
Their take on the rhythm gameplay popularised by Guitar Hero features a massive tracklist of over 90 songs, a cast of 50 bandmates, and fresh game modes for fans of the medium.
“Delivering one of the biggest and most varied launch setlists in the history of the genre, Stage Tour features over 90 songs spanning six decades of music from some of the greatest classic and modern artists of all time, including The Rolling Stones, Metallica, Radiohead, The Cure, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mötley Crüe, Paramore and Olivia Rodrigo, to name but a few.”
What makes Stage Tour so exciting, though, is it will ship with a full set of hardware, ranging from a Kramer guitar controller, Drum Kit, and wired/wireless microphones!
