Modern Beijing has a habit of refusing to stay in one lane.
A laptop commute can turn into dinner across town.
A free afternoon becomes a bike ride.
And sometimes the weekend starts before the work bag has even been unpacked.

That space between city routine and getting outdoors was where Swedish travel and outdoor brand Thule placed its latest collection during SS2027 Beijing Fashion Week.
On September 16, the brand presented its ‘Urban Wilderness’ 2027 collection, taking bags and travel gear out of their usual outdoor setting and onto the fashion-week calendar.
One Bag, More Than One Plan
The idea feels particularly current.
Backpacks, totes, and travel bags increasingly have to work across several versions of the same day: office, gym, airport, café, train station, or a spontaneous trip out of town.
Thule’s new collection follows that shift, covering urban commuting, short trips, and outdoor use while paying closer attention to the details that matter once a bag becomes part of everyday life: proportions, carrying comfort, compartments, and how it works with what someone is wearing.

In other words, practicality has entered the styling conversation.
That made Beijing Fashion Week an interesting setting for the launch.
Running from September 7 to 17, SS2027 Beijing Fashion Week spread across the city, with its main venue on Wangfujing Pedestrian Street and more than 160 Chinese and international brands taking part.
Among the runway looks and designer collections, Thule offered a slightly different question: what happens when the things designed to carry your life also become part of how you dress for it?
From City Street to Somewhere Else
Thule has been thinking about carrying things since 1942, when the company was founded in Sweden.
Its range has since grown from early outdoor equipment into roof racks, luggage, bags, child seats, and other travel gear sold around the world.

The company sums that up with ‘Bring your life’: a phrase that feels less abstract when viewed through the way people actually move today.
A work bag may need to survive a flight.
A weekend backpack might spend Monday on the subway.
Outdoor references have also moved steadily into everyday wardrobes, from technical fabrics and trail shoes to utility pockets and weather-resistant jackets.
The divide between ‘city’ and ‘outdoor’ has become increasingly flexible.
What Would You Take With You?

Actors Chen Can and Tiantian, appearing at the show as Thule bag ambassadors, offered their own interpretations of ‘Bring your life.’
For them, good gear came down to ideas such as companionship, freedom, and the ability to switch between different settings; fitting for two people who described heading outside or wandering the city together whenever work leaves them a little breathing room.
And that may be the more interesting takeaway from ‘Urban Wilderness.’
Adventure does not always begin with a mountain, a campsite, or a boarding pass.
Sometimes it starts with leaving work, keeping the same bag over your shoulder, and deciding not to go straight home.
