There was once a time when tabis stood for pure and utter freakdom, when a split toe was all it took to telegraph your edginess. Now, with their alt status a thing of the past, it takes a little bit more to pervert footwear.
Zendaya, an ardent tabi fab herself, is on a quest to funk up her collection.
After attending the Louis Vuitton spring 2027 show in Paris earlier this week (where she rewore one of her press tour looks from The Odyssey), the actor stuck around town. Today, Z and her longtime assistant, Darnell Appling, stopped by French concept store Merci, where the actor zhuzed up a classic look.

Zendaya’s base layer was as classic as they come: light-wash jeans and a white shirt. But clearly ready to break out her fall wardrobe, she added a black leather Prada duster from fall 1999 over top. The Matrix-y coat, with its tough leather and futuristic touches, demanded a shoe that matched its energy. Zendaya found that in her Maison Margiela tabi wedge.
While she has split-toe flats, ankle boots, and even loafers in her closet, Zendaya opted for a pair of black leather tabi wedge heels. Summer 2026 proved a renaissance for the humble wedge sandal, and now Zendaya’s hoping they’ll follow her into the fall.
