Hamster Corporation is back at it with another Arcade Archives release, and this next one is a beloved Taito classic — Arkanoid.

It releases on PS5 (Arcade Archives 2) and PS4 (Arcade Archives) tomorrow, 7th May 2026, and brings the brick-breaking action in a faithful reproduction.

Arkanoid originally released in arcades in 1986. It’s similar to Atari’s Breakout, but it introduced multiple stages as well as features like power-ups that added some spice to the simple formula.

You control a paddle-shaped ship at the bottom of the screen from left to right, and must bounce a ball to break all the blocks above you. Some of them will release pick-ups that provide beneficial effects, like making the paddle larger, or spawning several more balls.

This being an Arcade Archives release, it comes with the usual extras, like save states, button remapping, rewind, and so on, making it easier to revisit this legendary title.

Are you planning on playing Arkanoid on PS5 and PS4? Tell us in the comments section below.
