Guangzhou has a new waterfront photo spot and this one is difficult to miss.
A giant silver heart has appeared beside the Pearl River at Julong Bay Taikoo Li, forming the centerpiece of its FULL LOVE ADVENTURE program, running from August 14 to September 13.
The futuristic installation sits on a rippled water base overlooking the river.
During the day, it is surrounded by a light mist; after dark, moving water-pattern projections travel across its surface, while glass orb lights scattered along the waterfront begin to glow.
But there is more here than one very large heart.
Follow the waterfront around sunset, and the route alternates between the Pearl River and a neighboring creek.
At a platform shaded by a century-old banyan tree, a giant moon lights up as evening arrives.
From there, a sunken waterside path continues alongside the creek, with benches, reflections on the water and music accompanying the walk.

There is some Guangzhou history along the way, too.
Chongkou Warehouse dates back to the 1950s, when it served as an important grain-storage facility.
Outside stands Chromatic Echoes, an installation by architecture practice 10 Design using colored glass, mirrors and changing light; the work previously appeared at Art Basel Hong Kong in 2023.
The waterfront will also host various activities each weekend, ranging from mother-of-pearl lamp making, clay art, and ice dyeing to Wing Chun, sketching, tea experiences, and a pet-themed week.
So, yes, take the heart photo.
But arrive around sunset and make a walk of it, river, banyan tree, moon, old warehouse and all.
