It’s the first scoreless tie in Colombia’s World Cup history. And most importantly, Portugal and Argentina are now on opposite sides of the bracket. The only way we’ll see Ronaldo vs. Messi in this World Cup is if they meet in the final.
Colombia wins the group and Portugal finishes second.

Five minutes of added time. Portugal needs this winner if we’re going to see Ronaldo vs. Messi in the quarterfinals…

What a chance! Ruben Dias clears a cross off the goal line for Portugal before Diogo Costa then makes a save and Luis Suarez’s shot goes just over the crossbar.
So much for any thought that Colombia would stop attacking. Mea culpa!

Portugal with a good spell of possession inside the Colombia half and … nothing.
Colombia is perfectly happy with the draw and is going to be taking the air out of this

Eight minutes of time left before any added time and we’re no closer to figuring out a winner, though both teams have had flashes that have not amounted to anything.

The Round of 32 is in sight for Congo now after a cute flick-on by Fiston Mayele late in the game.
That could be huge for Congo.

This was the right call and shouldn’t elicit much discussion. Mendes was basically established and in the way.

James Rodriguez checks out for Colombia with 15 minutes to go. He’s having another very good World Cup after a nondescript stint in MLS.

If you’re a neutral and want to see Messi vs. Ronaldo at this World Cup, it’s time to start rooting for Portugal. They could meet in the quarterfinals if Portugal wins the group. If Colombia does, it wouldn’t happen until the final.

Uzbekistan’s Abdukodir Khusanov kicked an opponent’s legs in the box and a penalty was given. Congo’s Yoane Wissa calmly sends it into the bottom-right corner of the net for a goal to tie things up at 1-1.
Game on in Atlanta!

Diogo Costa is up to six saves after a nice punch of a deflected shot from Jhon Arias, and then a Gustavo Puerta rocket goes just wide of the net to the left.
Colombia is cooking something up here … but it’s time for the second-half hydration break. Will that blunt Colombia’s momentum? It did in the first half.

It’s starting to open up a bit in Miami. Gotta wonder if the heat and humidity is playing a role with that.

João Felix is free on the left for Portugal, he plays it to a Cristiano Ronaldo who is behind the defense and Ronaldo slides the shot wide … before he’s flagged for offside.

The mood has gone from joyful to nervous in the crowd for Uzbekistan-Congo. Uzbekistan is trying to simply salvage some dignity in its first World Cup appearance, while Congo needs a win to advance to the round of 32. Uzbekistan leads 1-0, and Congo’s pace has slowed considerably in the second half.

Ronaldo has been a non-factor tonight so far. Can he conjure a moment of magic?

Congo has had a few chances since Uzbekistan opened up the scoresheet with a 10th-minute goal by Eldor Shomurodov, but there hasn’t been a lot in this one yet.
Congo will surely be pressing more in the second half. It needs a win here to advance to the Round of 32.

Who can find the breakthrough goal in the second half? Colombia had a couple decent chances as the game got stretched in added time.
