Dallas Wings guards Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd announced on the latest episode of Fudd’s podcast that they are no longer in a relationship. Bueckers, making her first appearance on the show, laid out the timeline: “We broke up over a year ago.”
That puts the split before the 2026 WNBA Draft, when the Wings made Fudd the No. 1 overall pick and Bueckers’ teammate. Bueckers used the timing to reject the idea that their relationship played any part in that selection. She then spoke about how the two have handled a full season as teammates, and what comes next for them in Dallas.
Paige Bueckers Addresses Azzi Fudd’s Draft Pick As Wings Teammates Announce Breakup
The conversation took place on “Fudd Around and Find Out,” the podcast that Fudd hosts. Bueckers’ visit to her teammate’s show had been a long time coming, and the pair used it to share some news of their own.
Fudd broke the news herself: “Paige and I have something that we want to share with everyone. … We are no longer together.”
Bueckers framed the announcement around the question she expected everyone to ask. After telling listeners, “We’re not together anymore… For everybody wondering, it’s been a while…
“We were not together before she got drafted, so all of those narratives can go to bed. She was not drafted because she was my girlfriend. She was drafted because she deserved it. She’s an amazing human, amazing basketball player.”
Bueckers then dismissed the idea that the two can’t continue to be teammates.
“We’re still friends, we’re still cool. … We played an entire season together [after breaking up]; we’re the utmost professional. We care about basketball, and we’re still friends,” Bueckers said.
Bueckers drew a line on how supporters treat the people around them. “We don’t stand for hate of any kind. … If you support us, why would you hate on our teammates? Like, why would you hate on our friends? Why would you hate on our family?”
She was just as clear about where the two stand now and going forward.
“We still support each other. We’re still going to be great friends. We’re still going to be great teammates,” she said.
Fudd, as the show’s host, then closed the subject for both of them.
“We know you guys are curious and probably have a ton of questions, but we’ve addressed everything that we need to and the rest will stay with us,” she said.
That left the rest of the episode for basketball. Fudd went back over her win in the WNBA All-Star 3-Point Contest, where she became the first rookie to take the title, and laid out her plan to spend the winter playing overseas.
Bueckers discussed her first WNBA playoff run and the gold medal she won with Team USA at the FIBA World Cup. She also looked ahead to the franchise’s coming move into American Airlines Center in Dallas.
Dallas went 27-17 in Bueckers and Fudd’s season as teammates on the Wings, finishing fourth in the Western Conference. Both guards, Bueckers in No. 5 and Fudd in No. 35, remain on the Wings’ roster.
