UFC made the right call to not host Ronda Rousey’s comeback argues Daniel Cormier after Netflix debut

Ronda Rousey originally wanted to make her UFC return before taking her comeback to Netflix.

Rousey has been incredibly critical of Hunter Campbell for the way he handled negotiations to have her fight again inside the Octagon.

‘Rowdy’ directed a lot of her passion and aggression towards the current state of the UFC during the build-up to this past weekend’s event at the Intuit Dome.

After Rousey made a lot of money in a short amount of time due to winning in just 17 seconds, Daniel Cormier isn’t sure that the sport’s leading promotion are regretting not being a part of it.

Daniel Cormier argues that Hunter Campbell made the right call to not pay Ronda Rousey ‘a boat load of money’

Daniel Cormier sided with Hunter Campbell when speaking about the UFC not hosting Ronda Rousey’s comeback fight this past weekend.

While some questioned whether Rousey’s win was ‘rigged’ because of how quickly it ended, the UFC commentator said that he didn’t feel satisfied by the result.

Cormier believes that while Campbell had received a lot of criticism before May 16, his decision to not bring ‘Rowdy’ back by any means necessary was justified.

“If I’m Hunter Campbell, who has been getting beat up in the media because he didn’t want to make this fight, I don’t know that last night did anything to say that he made the wrong decision because of the way that it ended and that’s just me being 1000 percent truthful,” he said on his YouTube channel.

“Had you had a great fight, maybe people would have questioned Hunter’s decision but again, Hunter has made good decisions time and time again, and I believe that last night, showed that he made another one by not paying a boat load of money to make that event.”

MVP’s first MMA event certainly impacted the UFC’s viewing figures, though this isn’t surprising when looking at the two events that went head-to-head.

The sport’s leading promotion even announced Conor McGregor’s return while both events were live to steal some attention away from Netflix.

One factor that could come into play at a later date is if Rousey continues to work with MVP to promote their events.

Rousey’s negotiations for a UFC return falling through clearly motivated her to provide the promotion she made her name in more competition, meaning that her clashes with the likes of Campbell could continue for a lot longer.
