Tyson Fury posts for the first time after skipping Anthony Joshua face-off in Saudi Arabia

Tyson Fury opted against heading to Jeddah to face off with Anthony Joshua last night – instead opting to go the opposite direction.

Over the weekend, both Fury and Joshua took on tune-up tests before their planned showdown later this year. On Friday, the ‘Gypsy King’ defeated Mariusz Wach over seven rounds in a completely bizarre matchup before Joshua took on Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia.

After a drab showing from Fury, it was expected that Joshua would knock over his Albanian opponent with relative ease. Prenga managed to shock the world by dropping the Brit twice in the first, but AJ got his feet underneath him and scored a massive second round knockout.

Tyson Fury heads to Dublin instead of Jeddah during Anthony Joshua fight

Immediately after his victory over Kristian Prenga, Anthony Joshua made the call to face off with Tyson Fury in the ring. He was under the impression that his rival had shown up, but was surprised to learn that he had gone elsewhere.

Fury did insist after his fight with Wach that he wouldn’t be going to Jeddah, despite a reported insistence from Turki Alalshikh and Saudi officials that they would send a jet for him. Now, he appears to have shown off that he headed home, with a pit stop in Dublin.

While Fury has not posted on his own page since watching Joshua struggle through the Prenga fight, he did repost an Instagram story from his coach Kristian Blacklock. The pair can be seen enjoying a pint of Guinness together at Dublin Airport, with the caption “We are in Dublin for a few hours”.

While contracts have been signed for a meeting between Joshua and Fury, there are still a number of issues including a venue. The Watford native wants it in the UK while his Manchester rival is keen on a New York date, while Dana White’s involvement is also up in the air.
