Confidence is growing within the facility for the New Orleans Saints, and veteran defensive tackle Davon Godchaux made that clear recently at his annual youth football camp.

“I feel good, feeling the best shape I’ve been in. Feel really good. Exciting season to come. A second-year quarterback, Tyler Shough, and also got a guy who started behind him, which is Spencer Rattler. So, I feel like we got two monsters at the quarterback position. Defense was top 10 last year. Excited to have a better defense this year. I feel like we was top 10 last year. We still didn’t really play our best defense. So excited for that. Healthy O-line. Got a lot of weapons. First-round draft pick at receiver. So I’m excited about it. Got some good things going.”

Godchaux’s optimism is focused on the entire roster, emphasizing the excitement surrounding the Saints quarterback situation with Shough opening the season as the clear cut starter, while also pointing to a defense that finished among the NFL’s top units in 2025 despite leaving plenty room for improvement.

As the Saints continue their offseason program, Godchaux believes the pieces are in place for New Orleans to exceed expectations in 2026.
