Movsar Evloev moves to 20-0 at UFC London
Movsar Evloev refused to shoot for a takedown during the first two rounds at UFC London.
The Russian’s surprising game plan seemingly allowed Lerone Murphy to build an early lead.
When Evloev did finally get the fight to the ground in the third frame, Murphy popped back up with ease and remained on his feet for the rest of the round.
However, Evloev finished the round with a flurry of punches that may have stolen it for him.
Round four saw a change in momentum as Evloev began to take over with his grappling.
Unfortunately for him, referee Marc Goddard deducted a point when he landed low on Murphy.
Evloev continued to dominate in the fifth round, as Murphy battled through a hip injury.
After 25 minutes of fighting, the three cageside judges returned a majority decision (48–46, 48–46, 47–47) verdict in favor of Evloev.
Movsar Evloev demands a title shot
Movsar Evloev called for a shot at Alexander Volkanovski’s featherweight belt during his post-fight interview.
“UFC, there is no excuse to don’t let me fight for the title,” he told Michael Bisping.
Lerone Murphy backed his opponent’s title shot demand during his moment on the mic.
“Make sure Movsar Evloev gets the title shot,” he said.
“That man deserves it. He’s next in line.”
