Manchester United ended their home 25/26 season with a win at Old Trafford against Nottingham Forest.

A festive atmosphere to start the game became rocking when Luke Shaw struck a fine volley in the fifth minute to put Man Utd in the lead.

The focus shifted to getting Casemiro a goal, or Bruno Fernandes an assist, and that led to a scruffy attacking performance where Forest threatened a bit.

The game came alive ten minutes into the second half, as Elliot Anderson assisted Morato’s equaliser, before United hit back a minute later through Cunha to restore the lead.

Mbeumo and Gibbs-White exchanged goals next in a frantic second half to ensure United win 3-2 in a game where Fernandes equalled the PL assist record.

Here is how the players rated-

Senne Lammens – 8

Kept Utd ahead with a brilliant one-on-one save in the first half. Secure with the ball.

Diogo Dalot – 7

Clear upgrade on Mazraoui on current form. One fine cross and incisive passing otherwise.

Harry Maguire – 7.5

Relished the physical battle with Wood. Won aerial duels with gusto and went forward with purpose.

Lisandro Martinez – 7.5

Improves from his Sunderland game. Nice forward passing and last-ditch defending.

Luke Shaw – 8

Scored a fine volley to put United in the lead. Overlapped with intensity.

Casemiro – 7.5

Was determined to go out on a high. Bossed the duel vs Anderson and almost scored in the first half.

Kobbie Mainoo – 7.5

Casemiro’s forays forward often left him holding the midfield and he did well. Crisp passing as always.

Amad – 6

Looked more confident on the ball but the final-third decision-making has deserted him completely.

Bruno Fernandes – 8

Forcing the play in search of an assist, leading to a patchy creative display. Stepped it up in the second half. Should have had multiple assists.

Matheus Cunha – 9

The only player not forcing the play for Casemiro and Fernandes. Created a great chance for Mbeumo before scoring himself in the second half. A true maverick.

Bryan Mbeumo – 6

Missed three clear-cut chances to put Utd out of sight. Got his goal at the fourth attempt to give Fernandes a deserved assist.

Substitutes

Patrick Dorgu – 6

Missed a great chance to hand Fernandes the outright PL assist record.

Mason Mount – 6

Ran around with purpose.

Joshua Zirkzee – 6

Not much impact. Played some nice balls and missed chances.
