One Thai contender has shared the ring with three of the four men in the first half of the flyweight Muay Thai Grand Prix bracket. That experience has shaped some confident predictions.
Kongthoranee Sor Sommai faces Taiki Naito under kickboxing rules at ONE Fight Night 49 on November 6, but flyweight Muay Thai gold remains his ultimate target. Whoever wins the 2026-2027 ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix will hold that belt.
Rodtang Jitmuangnon meets Nong-O Hama in the first quarterfinal at The Inner Circle 38 on Friday, November 13, at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. Kongthoranee fought Nong-O three times, winning the first by split decision before the veteran took the next two.
Rodtang ruled the flyweight Muay Thai division for five years before losing his title. He now returns to the sport for the first time since 2024, after splitting two kickboxing bouts with Takeru Segawa.
Kongthoranee’s pick is partly technical and partly personal.
“I really admire Rodtang because, well, Rodtang is Rodtang,” Kongthoranee said.
“In this fight, whoever leaves an opening or makes a mistake is definitely getting dropped. Right now, I’d lean 60 percent for Rodtang and 40 percent for Nong-O.”
Kongthoranee Sor Sommai favors Asadula Imangazaliev in rematch
Reigning ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Asadula Imangazaliev defends his title against #1-ranked Aslamjon Ortikov in another quarterfinal at The Inner Circle 39 on November 20. Imangazaliev won their first meeting by split decision to claim the vacant belt.
Kongthoranee lost to Ortikov at ONE Fight Night 36 in October 2025, then was stopped by Imangazaliev in round two at ONE Fight Night 39 in January. He believes the champion’s variety will tip the scales again.
“This fight is definitely going to be another banger. Personally, I favor Asadula because he has a much wider variety of strikes compared to Aslamjon,” Kongthoranee said.
“Aslamjon has his strengths too, mainly his speed, but his defense isn’t quite as solid yet.”
