Darren Till believes Khamzat Chimaev’s upset loss could be the first fight in a trilogy.

It appears that Sean Strickland has changed his mind on rematching Chimaev after he initially ruled this idea out following their clash in May.

‘Borz’ has been vocal about how his preparations that were already in place to move up to light heavyweight impacted his first middleweight title defense.

While some have argued that a second meeting between Chimaev and Strickland might be hard to sell to the fans, ‘The Gorilla’ thinks we could see this matchup two more times.

Darren Till thinks rematch between Khamzat Chimaev and Sean Strickland could lead to a trilogy

On August 4, Darren Till and Yoel Romero shared a long and intense stare down following their first press conference for BKFC 94.

‘The Gorilla’ spoke to Bloody Elbow shortly before taking the stage at the AO Arena in Manchester where he commented on what’s next for his former teammate, Khamzat Chimaev.

Till backed Chimaev to beat Sean Strickland earlier this year but recognized that it would be a tough fight for ‘Borz’ having trained with his challenger in the past.

Despite other contenders being in the mix, the Brit believes that the surprising title change that happened in Newark will lead to a rematch taking place next.

It seems likely that Chimaev will be moving up to light heavyweight regardless of the outcome.

Till, however, believes that a trilogy fight between the two middleweight stars could take place in order to settle the score for good if Chimaev wins.

“Yeah, I think he will [get the rematch],” Till said. “I think it’ll be a massive fight and I think he gets the win and they potentially might end up having a trilogy.”

Darren Till dismisses the controversial fallout of Khamzat Chimaev’s loss

The tension between Khamzat Chimaev and Sean Strickland heading into their first meeting made it one of the biggest matchups of the year.

However, after both men looked to be on good terms with each other before the fight had even started, it may not generate the same level of hype.

Darren Till was asked about the way this rivalry played out and dismissed it as something that simply comes with the territory.

“It’s just fighting though isn’t it,” he said. “It’s just the way it is.”
