Joe Rogan hails Josh Hokit’s controversial UFC White House moment as ‘smart’ as he backs star

Joe Rogan has hailed Josh Hokit’s White House antics as ‘smart’ despite the backlash.

Ever since his debut in the premier promotion last November, Josh Hokit has found himself as one of the most talked about sports stars over the past year.

Since then, ‘The Incredible Hok’ has put together an impressive four fight winning streak, including a Fight of the Year contender against Curtis Blaydes.

The 28-year-old did, though, go on to make negative headlines after his UFC White House appearance this past June, when he knocked out Derrick Lewis.

Joe Rogan changes tune on Josh Hokit as he calls him ‘smart’

During his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, Hokit randomly took a shot at Michelle Obama, calling her a ‘man’, which of course, fell flat on such a historic and political event.

His controversial comments ended up hitting the mainstream media, with the majority of opinions being that Hokit took it too far with his comments.

That was also Dana White‘s opinion on the matter, as he called it ‘nonsense’ and stated how unhappy he was with the 28-year-old.

He was also laid into by UFC commentator Daniel Cormier, who called his comments ‘disgusting’ and ‘lame’.

Now, though, months removed from the controversial moment, the aforementioned Rogan has seemingly changed his tune on the situation after initially saying the UFC made a mistake booking him on the event.

“The funny thing is, people were saying, ‘Joe Rogan didn’t say anything when he said that’, I’m like, the guy just beat the f— out of Derrick Lewis what am I gonna do?” Rogan said on a recent episode of his podcast.

“It was hilarious. The thing is, he says ‘Michelle Obama’s a man’ every time I interview him, he said it the last time I interviewed him too. He did a smart thing. I mean, it’s very rude but it’s a smart thing because we’re all still talking about it.

“Otherwise, it’s just another fight from the night. Diego Lopes knocked out Steve Garcia, nobody is talking about Diego Lopes and Steve Garcia in the regular news, they’re talking about (Hokit). The next time he shows up at a UFC event the crowd are going to go bananas, he’s a superstar and he probably doubled his income saying ‘Michelle Obama is a man’,” Rogan continued.

Of course in typical Hokit fashion, he was completely unfazed by the criticism as he told everyone to ‘kiss my a–‘.

‘The Incredible Hok’ is now set for what is likely going to be a number one contender fight in his next outing, despite having put himself in hot water with the UFC brass.
