Most Valuable Promotions’ long-term future when it comes to MMA rests on May 16.
Jake Paul claimed that MMA is declining ahead of his promotion’s debut event in this space next month for several reasons.
Ronda Rousey has spoken a lot about leading a revolution and wanting to make a change now that she has MVP and Netflix behind her.
However, this one event doesn’t guarantee that there’s suddenly a new major player that can bring the UFC some much-needed competition.

Nakisa Bidarian says Ronda Rousey vs Gina Carano being successful will lead to more events
While Jake Paul is interested in competing in MMA in the near future, his promotion wasn’t sitting and waiting for the opportunity to put on their debut event in the sport.
Ronda Rousey’s planned UFC return falling apart meant that the opportunity to put on a card that would generate a lot of interest fell into Most Valuable Promotions’ lap.
However, MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian believes that how well the event on May 16 performs will determine whether this is just the start of MVP MMA and he has no reason to doubt how successful it will be.
“I think a lot of it depends on May 16th, right?” Bidarian told Sports Business Journal. “We’re putting a lot of fire power, star power, distribution to the event. If it works, and I’m very confident it will work, yes — MVP will be involved in MMA over the long term.”

Bidarian went on to add that while having a big matchup between Rousey and Gina Carano was the first step, having Netflix behind them meant that they could make an immediate impact in the MMA space.
Being on the streaming giant immediately draws a lot of attention, which in turn helps to get fighters to sign on the dotted line.
Bidarian is confident that Netflix’s influence will make their first MMA show one of the most viewed events, if not the most viewed, in the history of the sport.
“And on the back of that, we look forward to sitting down with Netflix or other distributors and seeing what the MMA strategy is for us going forward,” he added. “But we’ve had no shortage of interested athletes reaching out to us to be involved.”
