A highly touted light heavyweight prospect will have the chance to impress under a big spotlight on August 15.
That date will see MMA’s leading promotion making its long-awaited return to Philadelphia to stage the UFC 330 numbered event.
Headlining will be Ian Machado Garry’s title challenge against Islam Makhachev, as the Irishman looks to unseat the Dagestani in his very first welterweight defense.
The undercard is coming together, and the latest addition to the lineup is LFA champion Lucas Fernando.

LFA light heavyweight champion Lucas Fernando signs to make his debut at UFC 330
The UFC is gearing up to add plenty of new names to the roster during the upcoming season of Dana White’s Contender Series.
But the show’s contract winners aren’t the only ones the promotion has been clearing room for with a number of high-profile releases in recent weeks and months.
Per MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz, the UFC has also signed LFA light heavyweight champion and former middleweight titleholder Lucas Fernando.
Fernando missed out on a contract after losing to Cesar Almeida on DWCS in 2023. At the time, he held LFA’s 185-pound title but lost it in his first fight after the defeat in front of the UFC president.
Since then, the Brazilian has won four fights in a row, a run that culminated in him becoming a two-division champion by claiming the LFA gold at 205 pounds.
Fernando is only the third fighter in the promotion’s history to hold titles in multiple weight classes.
He will now get his long-awaited shot in the Octagon at UFC 330, where a showdown with Rafael ‘Bipolar’ Tobias awaits.

Brazil’s Tobias lost his UFC debut against Diyar Nurgozhay this past March, meaning both men will be looking to record their first win inside the Octagon on Makhachev’s upcoming undercard.
UFC 330 will be headlined by two title fights, with Mackenzie Dern defending against Gillian Robertson in the co-main event.
There will also be outings for Edson Barboza, Erin Blanchfield, Vicente Luque, and Geoff Neal.
