Former UFC two-division champion Henry Cejudo could be on the verge of a fighting comeback, this time in the boxing ring.
Olympic gold medalist and former two-division UFC champion Henry Cejudo dropped the gloves and announced his retirement at UFC 323 in December. Cejudo, one of the greatest fighters in UFC history, retired after a four-fight losing streak stemming from his 2023 MMA comeback.
Despite his MMA retirement, Cejudo returned to combat sports earlier this year at Real American Freestyle 06, defeating Urijah Faber via technical fall. Cejudo was supposed to return to the mats in April against former UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili before an injury canceled the match.
Just months after the cancellation, Cejudo was expected to return to the mats in his RAF return. But according to his longtime manager, Cejudo is plotting another comeback in a surprising sport: boxing.
Ali Abdelaziz reveals Henry Cejudo in talks for boxing debut just months after UFC retirement
In a recent tweet, Dominance MMA CEO Ali Abdelaziz made a huge announcement about Cejudo’s planned combat sports comeback.
“I’m working on a Boxing fight for Henry Cejudo stay tuned,” Abdelaziz teased.
As of this writing, Cejudo hasn’t confirmed nor denied interest in a future boxing match. If he’s booked against a to-be-announced opponent, Cejudo would become the latest UFC legend to transition from MMA to boxing.
Cejudo showcased impressive hands in wins over the likes of TJ Dillashaw, Demetrious Johnson, and Marlon Moraes during his UFC career. But wrestling was what Cejudo was known for during his UFC tenure, and even before it, when he won an Olympic gold medal in freestyle wrestling.
If Cejudo is serious about a boxing debut, he could potentially appear under Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions, which just held its first MMA event headlined by Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano.
