Azzi Fudd came into her first WNBA All-Star Weekend carrying the reputation of one of the league’s best shooters. By the end of the night, she had already proven it. But after etching her name in WNBA history, she had a challenge for perhaps the greatest shooter the game has ever seen.

“Steph, if you’re listening, I’ve been asking for a rematch since high school,” she told reporters when asked about potentially facing Curry in a 3-Point Contest. “So maybe this is our time to figure out a time and place.”
Fresh off becoming the first rookie to win the WNBA 3-Point Contest, the Dallas Wings guard didn’t spend too long celebrating her win over Portland Fire guard Bridget Carleton, instead turning her focus towards Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry.
The relationship between Fudd and Curry goes back many years. Back in 2018, she attended Curry’s SC30 Select camp when she was just 15 years old and won the camp’s three-point shootout. Now it seems like she’s up for a rematch.
Curry is no stranger to competing in 3-Point Contest crossovers between the NBA and the WNBA. Back in 2024, during the NBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis, he took on New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu, eventually winning 29-26. Ionescu was no slouch.
She had won the 2023 and 2025 WNBA 3-Point Contests, including a stellar performance in 2023 when she recorded 37 points out of a possible 40 points, a record that still stands across both leagues. This year, however, she refuted false reports about her declining the invite.
“I can’t decline an offer I never got officially invited to,” said Ionescu, who’s spending her All-Star break in Southern California.
Curry himself is a two-time winner of the NBA’s version of the contest, having taken home the trophy in 2015 and 2021.
However, Fudd’s performance tonight shows just how good she is already. After scoring 24 points and coming second to Carleton’s 29 in the qualifier, Fudd caught fire in the final round right as her opponent went cold. Carleton managed just 19 points as Fudd made 21 of her 27 shots, including eight of her last ten, to score 30 and win the trophy.
She now walks away with $70,000 in prize money. Fudd hasn’t yet ruled out a comeback to the competition next year to defend her title either.
“If they’ll have me. I’d be honored to be here again,” she told reporters. “That’s not up to me.”
Regardless of whether a matchup between Curry and Fudd actually takes place, it’s clear that the rookie guard has already made waves as the newest and youngest 3-Point champion.
