Philadelphia Eagles seventh-year quarterback Jalen Hurts owes second-year wide receiver Darius Cooper a nice dinner.
During the Eagles’ home game against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, Hurts nearly threw an interception on a 2nd-and-11 in the red zone. Cooper, however, saved him.

As Rams safety Quentin Lake extended his arms, Cooper came from behind and snatched the ball away from him to secure an 18-yard TD catch, giving the Eagles a 12-3 lead. Philadelphia kicker Jake Elliott then made the extra point, increasing the lead to 13-3.
“New meaning to a pick-six,” wrote ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler while reacting to the play.

What else should you know about Darius Cooper?
The Eagles signed former undrafted free agent Cooper in 2025. The former Tarleton State Texan finished his collegiate career as the program’s all-time leader in receiving yards (3,185) but went undrafted due to concerns about his size (5-foot-11, 210 pounds) and athleticism.
“Stocky wideout who plays with good urgency and play strength when contested but lacks the speed and functional route-running ability to get away from NFL-caliber defenders,” wrote NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein in his scouting report.
Despite questions about his ability to create separation, Cooper made the Eagles 53-man roster last season and played in 13 regular-season games, finishing with nine receptions for 92 yards. This season, he has taken on a bigger role in the passing attack and capitalized on those opportunities.
In a 24-20 Week 2 road win over the Tennessee Titans, Cooper caught the go-ahead TD with nine seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Perhaps Hurts will start targeting Cooper more. The QB knows he can trust the wideout after he saved him from throwing an interception in Week 4.
