After voicing his discontent with forward Rui Hachimura in the first quarter, Redick engaged in a heated confrontation with reserve Jarred Vanderbilt to begin the second quarter, fueling concern as the wheels continue to fall off LA’s season.

LA (50-28) entered Tuesday looking to snap a two-game losing streak and maintain its top-four seed in the crowded Western Conference. However, as injuries continue to pile up, the task looks increasingly daunting.
The Lakers already lost Luka Dončić (hamstring) and Austin Reaves (oblique) for the season after the star duo’s disheartening injuries suffered during Thursday’s 139-96 road loss to OKC. They joined veteran guard Marcus Smart (ankle) on LA’s injury report, crippling the team’s backcourt.
The third member of the Lakers’ Big 3, LeBron James, was also ruled out Tuesday due to left foot soreness, along with center Jaxson Hayes (foot). That left Redick scrambling for answers against the defending NBA champions, who boast a 62-16 record.
To begin the contest, Redick made waves on X with his short patience with Hachimura’s effort, subbing out the seven-year veteran after just two and a half minutes and letting him hear about it.

The second-year coach followed that up by calling a timeout just 16 seconds into the second quarter to take Vanderbilt out, prompting a fiery sideline exchange between the two.

The moment promptly went viral, with many questioning how Redick is holding up without top-end talent at his disposal.

The first half ultimately played out as expected, with LA having no answers for the Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander-led attack, despite Redick going deep into his rotation.
The Lakers entered halftime trailing 65-47 before getting outscored 28-15 in the third quarter, underscoring the contrast to their dominant 15-2 stretch in March, when their core was healthy and firing on all cylinders.
