Colby Covington claims that Donald Trump Jr and his brother Eric were willing to go to their father to get him on the biggest fight card of the year.
The former UFC interim welterweight champion has been one of President Donald Trump’s most vocal supporters in all of sports for the best part of a decade. When a slew of teams and athletes refused to visit the White House in 2018, he brought his belt to the Oval Office and has since actively campaigned.

However, when Dana White announced the UFC White House card, Covington was one of the many glaring omissions. And speaking with Bloody Elbow ahead of his RAF Wrestling match with Dillon Danis on Fox Nation this Saturday, he detailed how the Trump family were unhappy to see him left off the show.
Colby Covington details how Trump family reacted to UFC White House omission
If ever there was a man synonymous with the UFC and the Trump family, it would be Colby Covington. He has based his entire persona in fighting on his support for the President, refusing to back down even after his 2020 election defeat and even spending the entirety of 2024 campaigning.
While it goes without saying that President Trump himself is not concerning himself with the matchmaking for this show, his family are close friends with Covington. And he says that sons Eric and Donald Jr were willing to speak to their father to go to bat for him if necessary.
“I’ve talked to them extensively about it,” Covington explained. “They’re like ‘we’d love to help and if you want us to go to our dad we could’. But they’ve got so much bigger things to focus on; Eric Trump runs the whole Trump organization with all those hotels and Don Jr is a very busy man.
“I think Don Jr has political aspirations, he might want to be a future president. So honestly the President is worried about keeping world peace and getting some kind of agreement with Iran so we can have peace talks.
“I’m not going to be an egotistical moron and go ‘me, me, me’, it’s about us. I’m a very selfless person and I care more about my country than I care about myself because the future of humanity depends on it and I want to see every person in America prosper and do good things in a free and safe country.”
Colby Covington downplays frustrations over UFC White House snub
Despite the initial embarrassment of being left off the card, Covington is refusing to let his faith in the President go. And he noted that he has already had so many special moments both in Washington DC and Mar-A-Lago that he is okay with missing this one opportunity.
“When I first got the news that I wasn’t going to be a part of it I was frustrated,” Covington admitted. “I said some things in the media that I probably shouldn’t have said and I shared maybe a few too many details because I got fired up.

“But now that I’ve sat back and kind of analyzed everything, I realize that it’s not a big deal that I’m not fighting at the White House… I’ve delivered a world championship belt to a sitting president at the Oval Office.
“I’ve been invited for election night multiple times, I’ve been to the White House, I’ve seen the West Wing, I’ve seen everything there is there. So what do I need to go fight there for? There’s no point, I’ve been there.
“It’s a cool honor for people that have never been to the White House, it’s the greatest American honor you can do but I’ve been there and done that.”
