It appears that Colby Covington’s time as a UFC fighter has come to an end.

It was only last month that Covington finally dropped out of the UFC rankings despite not winning a fight since 2022.

While he’s been one of the promotion’s biggest supporters for a long time, Covington wasn’t happy with missing out on the White House card.

Following updates stating that he’s been removed from the roster, it has now been confirmed that this was a decision that he made.

Colby Covington reportedly retired as Brad Riddell and Mayra Bueno Silva join him on the removed list

Shortly after reports came out that Colby Covington had been removed from the UFC roster, MMA Fighting confirmed that he notified the promotion of his decision to retire.

Covington has been critical of the UFC’s matchmaking decisions in recent times when being honest about his current relationship with the promotion.

While he previously admitted to Bloody Elbow that his inactivity hasn’t helped things, there appeared to be a big gap between what he wanted compared to the promotion’s plans for him.

Not receiving a spot on the White House card next month was a clear indication of this, with Covington being very vocal about his frustrations after the original six-fight line-up was revealed.

Brad Riddell and former title challenger Mayra Bueno Silva were also removed from the roster in the same reported updates.

Covington is set to compete in his third RAF wrestling match later this month when he takes on former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman.

He’s openly said in recent months that he would choose to focus on this instead of MMA if he couldn’t agree on his next move with the UFC.

If this is the end of his MMA career, ‘Chaos’ hangs up the gloves as a former UFC interim welterweight champion with a 17-5 record.

While he came up short when challenging for the undisputed title on three occasions, it’s undeniable that he was one of the most talked about fighters in the sport for a number of years thanks to his controversial persona.
