Anthony Ferrari has decided to move on from Campbell University and enter the NCAA transfer portal, signaling a new phase in his college wrestling journey. After spending time developing both on and off the mat, Ferrari is now looking for an opportunity that aligns better with his goals and natural weight class.

The American wrestler also shared that he plans to move down to the 149-pound weight class next season, a division where he feels more natural and confident in how he performs.

Anthony Ferrari Enters Transfer Portal, Eyes Fresh Start at 149 Pounds

Anthony Ferrari spent the 2026 season with Campbell wrestling at 165 pounds, where he showed flashes of promise but struggled to find consistent results. He picked up some notable wins in open tournaments and competed regularly in conference events, finishing the year with an around .500 record.

At the Southern Conference Championships, things did not go his way as he fell short of making a deep run, which ultimately impacted his chances of progressing further. Ferrari also did not make a significant mark at the 2026 NCAA Championships, as the tournament was dominated by top programs like Penn State and Oklahoma State.

As the NCAA season came to a close, Ferrari took a moment to reflect on his time at Campbell and the journey he has had so far. Looking beyond just wins and losses, he shared his thoughts in a statement posted on Instagram, where he officially announced his decision to enter the transfer portal.

The 22-year-old spoke about the growth he experienced during his time with the program and the people who supported him along the way. At the same time, Ferrari expressed that he is ready for something new and made no secret of it.

“First and foremost, I want to thank Campbell university, coach dudley, athletic trainer, Jordan thompson and the entire Campbell staff. For everything they’ve invested in me-both on and off the mat. The relationships I’ve built and the lessons I’ve Learned here will stay with me for life. After much thought and prayer, I’ve decided to enter the ncaa transfer portal. Next season, I’ll be competing at my natural weight class of 149 lbs. I’m hungry, I’m focused, and I’m ready to take that next step and become who I know I can be. Grateful for the journey and ready for what’s ahead,” read his statement.

What comes next feels open for Anthony Ferrari. A move down to 149 could reset things completely, especially after a .500 season at 165 and tough conference results.

Programs will be watching closely because the upside is still there. If he finds the right fit, this next stop might finally bring consistency and maybe even a real push toward the NCAA podium.
