Amanda Lemos has issued a statement following her loss at UFC Vegas 120.

The one-time UFC title challenger needed three attempts to make the 116-pound strawweight limit at Friday’s weigh-in.

24 hours later, Amanda Lemos was easily outpointed by Alexia Thainara at the newly refurbished Meta Apex in Las Vegas.

Amanda Lemos to consider retirement

Naturally, fans called for Amanda Lemos to call time on her MMA career following UFC Vegas 120.

The 39-year-old looked way past her prime as she slumped to a third consecutive loss in the Octagon.

Post-fight, Lemos revealed she will take some time to consider if she wants to carry on fighting.

“Who am I to question Your plans, Lord? When even the breath that sustains my life is a gift from you,” she said in Portuguese on Instagram.

“Thank you to everyone who rooted for me.

“Now I’m going to think about what I’ll do—and whether I’ll still do it.”

When did Amanda Lemos fight for the title?

Amanda Lemos boasts high-profile wins over Michelle Waterson, Mackenzie Dern, Angela Hill, and Marina Rodriguez.

The 15-7-1 fighter’s career peaked when she fought for the UFC strawweight title in August 2023.

Lemos went to go five rounds with Zhang Weili, but she lost a lopsided decision at UFC 292.

The cageside judges scored the fight 50–43, 50–44, and 49–45 in favor of the defending champion.

Lemos has lost four of her six fights since then, so the chances of her securing a second shot at UFC gold are extremely low.
