A fighter with 56 bouts to his name has stepped away after wanting one last war.

This past weekend saw Gilbert Burns announce his retirement following his fifth consecutive loss inside the Octagon.

Burns has had some great fights with the likes of Khamzat Chimaev but his final run in the promotion made it clear that this was the right time for him to step away.

Another fighter who was in action this past weekend has also decided to hang up the gloves following one last roll of the dice that didn’t go his way.

Chris Camozzi announces his retirement following BKFC title fight loss

At BKFC 88 on Friday night, Chris Camozzi was stopped by Esteban Rodriguez in their main event clash for the interim cruiserweight title.

The former UFC fighter competed 19 times inside the Octagon, facing the likes of Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza, Lorenz Larkin, and Thales Leites.

Camozzi announced his retirement on Instagram and suggested that he knew he was heading into his last dance this past weekend.

“I told my team going into this last one, ‘If I can’t knock him out right away, I want a war so I can feel it one more time’ and that’s what I got and it feels good. Unfortunately, I couldn’t see anymore to continue.”

Camozzi received praise from Conor McGregor when he won the BKFC cruiserweight title by stopping Sawyer Depee in 2024.

The 39-year-old summarized his career by saying that after making his pro debut in 2006, he competed in 56 professional fights in MMA, kickboxing, and bare-knuckle.

“The fight game has given me everything in my life and I’m forever grateful. I don’t know where I’d be, if I didn’t happen to walk in the gym that first day. I’ll forever have love for the game and I still plan on being a part of it in other ways.

“Thank you everyone,” he concluded. “I’m excited for the next chapter of my life and I’ll continue to be a fan of the sport, former opponents, friends!”
