Things haven’t gone Montana De La Rosa’s way since her last win in the UFC.

PFL champion Thad Jean argued that casual fans overlook the skill level of the fighters on the promotion’s roster when arguing that he’s top three in the world at his weight.

Tyson Pedro’s run in the PFL is just one recent example of why previously being in the UFC doesn’t guarantee that you’d find success elsewhere.

That doesn’t stop the promotion from giving opportunities to fighters who have parted ways with the UFC for one reason or another, with De La Rosa making that switch in New York.

Montana De La Rosa suffers split decision loss at PFL New York in first fight since UFC release

Montana De La Rosa went 6-5-1 during her stint as a member of the UFC’s women’s flyweight division.

Despite winning her final bout inside the Octagon to break a three-fight skid, De La Rosa was cut from the promotion a year ago.

Her scheduled bout with Luana Carolina at UFC Vegas 103 fell apart on very short notice due to the Nevada State Athletic Commission not allowing a catchweight when her opponent wasn’t close to making 126 pounds.

On July 31, De La Rosa looked to finally put this behind her when making her PFL debut in New York and competing for the first time in two years.

Unfortunately for the 31-year-old 12-fight UFC veteran, this wasn’t the case, with her suffering a split decision loss to Tatiana Postarnakova.

PFL shared several highlights from this matchup on social media to praise both women for putting on a show for the fans in attendance regardless of the result.

At 26 years old with back-to-back wins in the promotion under her belt, Russia’s Postarnakova looks to be one to watch in the flyweight division.

Her two PFL fights, which have both taken place this year, are the first two times that she’s gone to the scorecards, holding a perfect 8-0 record with two knockouts and four submissions.
