Egis has appointed Francois Basselot as its managing director for both  the UK and Ireland as its teams across the two countries work more closely together.

Basselot previously led Egis’ energy and sustainable cities division across Europe and Africa for the last two and half years, following a decade in consultancies Arcadis and Atkins in the UK and Ireland as well as internationally.

Egis said that it is looking to expand its operations across the UK and Ireland as priority markets. A central part of these plans is combining the strengths of its teams as they work to meet the two countries’ critical infrastructure needs.

Basselot said: “By combining the fantastic consultancy and engineering skills of our team in both Ireland and the UK, we can more effectively support our clients’ needs on both sides of the Irish sea from water to energy, highways and rail.

“Our technical heritage is strong across the two countries in transport, water & environment, energy transition including nuclear, and the built environment. Integrating such deep technical expertise in this way will benefit clients with access to technical and project management expertise as the UK and Ireland grapple with their own infrastructure challenges.”

Charlie Hodgson, chief executive of Egis Europe & Africa, added: “The UK and Ireland are priority markets for us, with both governments having committed to major investment in modernising critical infrastructure. Francois brings outstanding credentials and deep knowledge of both countries as we integrate our team to ensure we’re offering our clients the strongest possible expertise.”

Claire Davies, currently Egis UK managing director, has been appointed chief operating officer for Egis Europe & Africa; Egis Ireland managing director Steve Preece is now managing director for the operations and maintenance business at Egis in Ireland, which maintains the Dublin Tunnel, 470km of Ireland’s motorways and the country’s mobile road safety camera network.
