Noah Lyles, Sha’Carri Richardson, and other US athletes will be headed to Icahn Stadium in New York for the 2026 US Championships. The event will be back in Eugene, Oregon, in 2027 in the build-up to the World Championships.
The 28-year-old has been Team USA’s headline men’s athlete, showcasing his prowess on the global stage in both the 100m and 200m. Richardson, meanwhile, has had an inconsistent presence on the track but helped her team secure relay gold at the 2025 World Championships.
Noah Lyles and Other Athletes Will Compete at the US Championships at a New Venue
Lyles has been a driving force in track and field and has continued to put his country on the map, following in the footsteps of the track luminaries before him. He amassed nearly eight National titles across indoors and outdoors, shining through in the 60m, 100m, and 200m. He won the 60m feat in the 2024 edition, a 100m win in 2018, and a bronze in 2023.
But he has been nothing but phenomenal in the half-lap, taking back-to-back titles in 2019, 2021, and 2022 (except 2020 for COVID-19), and also in 2025.
His latest victory recorded a world-leading mark for the season and also qualified him for the 2025 World Championships. This year, instead of the usual venue, the National Championships will be held at Icahn Stadium in New York, where two editions of Athlos were hosted.

New York last hosted a national track and field event in 1991, when fans flocked to Downing Stadium to watch the Athletics Congress of the US Championships. In 2027, the US Championships will return to Eugene, Oregon, acting as the gateway for the Worlds.
Richardson’s major US title came in 2023 when she won the women’s 100m race in 10.82 s.
Lyles’ 2026 season started at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational, where he topped the 300m event. He then suffered his first loss of the season in the same distance at the Boston Grand Prix, where Jereem Richards edged past him. He is next scheduled to compete in the 200m at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville on Valentine’s Day.

The three-time Olympic medalist was unable to continue a win streak in the 200m when he lost to Richards at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix. However, he was far from disappointed with the result; instead, he let his stance be clear by saying that he will go full throttle in the 2026 season.
He also noted that his exhaustion at the end of the race proved that he was on the right track. Lyles usually competes indoors early in the season to tune up ahead of the outdoor season. Before 2026, he competed in the 300m at the 2017 US Championships, where he won his first senior National accolade.
