Madison Chock and Evan Bates have ended their Olympic campaign on a significant high this time. Apart from defending the team title, the skating couple has also clinched their first individual medal in the ice dance category on their fourth attempt.
Chock competed in the ice dance category alongside Bates, having qualified for the finals as the second-best pair in the preliminary round. They missed out on the gold medal after scoring 224.39 points, while the French duo of Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron clinched gold with 225.82 points.
Madison Chock Shares Feelings After Missing Out on Top Spot
Chock opened up about winning the silver medal in the ice dance category alongside Bates. The 33-year-old figure skater revealed that she had no regrets and felt proud of the efforts she and Bates made in the current edition. In the post-game interview with NBC News, the American figure skater revealed,
“It was amazing, it felt so good. We’re so proud of what we’ve accomplished this week. Every time we’ve stepped on the Olympic ice and had our four performances, we felt like we’ve delivered the very our best to ourselves. That is the most you can hope for when you’re competing, is to deliver your best self every time you step up on ice. Very proud.”
Chock has been competing alongside her partner-turned-husband, Evan Bates, since 2011. They made their Olympic debut at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, finishing eighth overall.
In 2017, Chock and Bates confirmed that they were in a relationship. In the 2018 Winter Olympics, the skating duo finished in ninth position overall.

Despite the setbacks, neither skater gave up. They improved their performances with each event, and won their first of the five consecutive gold medals at the 2022 US Championships. The same year, Chock and Bates won their first Olympic medal as part of the US team that won gold in the team figure skating event at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
The skating duo got engaged in June 2022 and married in an intimate ceremony in Hawaii in 2024.
Chock and Bates rose through the ranks to win three consecutive gold medals at the World Championships from 2023 to 2025. The couple also won the top honors at the Grand Prix Tournament and the World Team Trophy, respectively.
With the current performance at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, life has come full circle for the skating couple.
