After Iowa women’s basketball’s (18-5, 9-3 Big Ten) comeback attempts against Minnesota came up short in a 91-85 home loss to the Golden Gophers on Feb. 5, the Hawkeyes have once again slid in the latest AP Top 25 Women’s College Basketball Poll.

While Iowa earned stellar offensive performances from Ava Heiden (24 points), Chit-Chat Wright (20 points), Journey Houston (15 points), and Hannah Stuelke (14 points), Minnesota’s astonishing 10-for-14 night from 3-point territory allowed them to controll majority of the game. Despite a spirited effort by the Hawkeyes in the final few minutes of the fourth quarter, Iowa’s prolonged lulls offensively throughout the game ultimately came back to haunt them.

According to the latest poll, Iowa’s defeat against Minnesota has now slipped the Hawkeyes three spots to No. 15.

In addition to Iowa, six other Big Ten squads are within the updated top 25. UCLA is ranked No. 2, Michigan No. 7, Ohio State No. 8, Michigan State No. 13, Maryland No. 20, and Washington at No. 25.

Minnesota and Illinois are both receiving votes as well.

The Hawkeyes will once again have just one game this week, as Washington (18-6, 8-5 Big Ten) visits Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Wednesday, Feb. 11. Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT and will be streamed exclusively on BTN+.
